    Melanie Martinez - Cough Syrup

I’m really loving this song at the moment!

“And so I run now to the things they said could restore me, restore life the way it should be. I’m waiting for this cough syrup to come down. Life’s too short to even cart at all, I’m losing my mind losing my mind losing control.”

  • Mr. and Mrs. Dinner Plates

    beecurious:

For my daughters wedding, I thought it would be special to make custom plates for her and her husband, and have them sitting at their sweetheart table as a little wedding dinner surprise.image

After hunting around for ceramic shops in our area, I decided it was just going to be too expensive a project. I also looked online and found several places where you can choose from pre-made designs and add your own personalization, but didn’t like any of the options offered. Most of the graphics were on the cheesy side, or just way too traditional for my taste.

I was just about to give up on the whole idea when this picture from Pinterest caught my eye:

    image

Could it really be that simple? Dollar store plates and a sharpie marker? Believe it or not it was. While I couldn’t find the shape I wanted for a dollar, I did find them for $3.99 at TJ Maxx. I simply drew my design (stole my graphic idea off google images) and baked it at 350 for ten minutes. image

And here they are on the wedding day:

So now I’ve got to thinking….what a great project for such a variety of uses. You could do this as a kids art project or do group projects for a kids birthday party. You can even help a picky eater overcome food challenges. Are these genius or what?image

You could give them for anniversaries, special occasions, or even do themed colors at a shower or holiday party. How about favorite song lyrics or a favorite poem or bible verse? I love this 2 piece set.image

You could write a special note to a special someone:image

If you had a group sign a platter, it would make a great get well, office party, housewarming or coaches gift.image

    Get a little goofy:image

Or just go totally random and start doodling:imageimageimage

How about place settings at a dinner party, or using them for office supplies?image

This is one of those projects with endless possibilities! This week I’ll be having fun with it with my two twelve year olds that I’ll be watching in the afternoons. I think they’ll love it!
